Since sympathy to all of Alice’s family.

I got to know her only this time last year, when my mother moved into Glendonagh Retirement Home and had the good fortune to have Alice as her “next door neighbour”. Mum died within 4 weeks but during that time Alice was exceptionally kind to her, to my sisters and to me. Within a very short time it felt as if Alice had been a friend of our family for many years; and her warmth & good humour were some of the things that made our visits to Glendonagh easier & nicer than they otherwise might have been, especially during the last week when Mum was slipping away from us.

I visited Alice a few times subsequently because I had become genuinely fond of her. It was a pleasure to have known her, even if only in the last year of her long life, and to have become acquainted with all she did for Youghal during the several previous decades.
