Ah Alison I’m late to sending my condolences to your beloved daughters on your passing-but their sadness should be tinged with much pride …. pride in the way you faced the toughest challenges a girl could face in a lifetime and shared by your next door neighbour in Ashleigh Lawns. This was the courageous world of which I became acquainted in 1979 when I visited at No 27. Your hospitality and joie-de -vivre was evident from the first moment I met you and was shared by your wonderful girls. Your encouragement and sisterly support to my late wife Jean was never forgotten within our new family which sprung from the invigorating atmosphere of both your homes.
I hope and pray that you will be welcomed to your eternal home by your beloved Hugh and John and that Jean and Michael will be close by to pour a good G&T to continue where you all left off those many years ago. To Nicola Alison and Yvonne I send you my deepest sympathies and you can be assured that your beloved Mum will have heard the words ‘ Well done thou good and faithful servant… inherit the place prepared for you from the foundation of the world !’

I didnt know Alison until her last few weeks before passing. My daughter was very sick in hospital and I had to stay with her. We had the pleasure of sharing our room with Alison. Although, extremely sick herself, Alison still took the time and effort to reach out to my daughter. Her words of encouragement and thumbs up gestures really meant the world. Telling me that my daughter 'would be fine' with such belief and insistence was a source of comfort. Her remarkable kindness and spirit, even in her last days meant a a lot to us and demonstrated incredible character. Her loving family by her side all the way through, I'm so glad to hear she passed away peacefully. She left a mark on me. RIP Alison xxx
