I’m so sorry to just hear of Al’s passing. I have such fond memories of him — calling into the house in Clontarf to chat with Dad about the great Cavan football days gone by, and standing on the sidelines at camogie matches where you, Sal, and I were playing.
As a young teacher, I always found him so encouraging — genuinely interested in any new idea I had and always ready with thoughtful, sincere advice. I’ve no doubt that the three amigos from St. Finian’s, Swords — Bill Cashmin, himself, and Dad — are now reunited, picking their next best team to play and reminiscing about their great All-Ireland Vocational Schools win with Dublin back in 2000.
