I've not felt as homesick in the many years I've lived away from Kerry as I have since I heard the news. The sound of summer with many happy mornings spent in The Gresham and many happy evenings spent listening to his wonderful stories and commentary on the radio. He ruined me for commentary from the television so any match being watched was muted and the radio turned on instead. A voice from home for those of us no longer living in the Kingdom. Will be sorely missed. RIP Weesh

Dear Joan and Family, So sad to hear the news of Weeshie, we were friends for a very long time. He left us all better than he found us. His love of life, his love of football, his love of people but most of al l his love of his family. Words will do Weeshie little justice. He was one in a million, a man that greatly inspired those that he met. May the light of heaven shine on him, may the games in heaven be great and sure if not he will bring them to life. God bless my friend.

You were enjoyed by many here in the middle east over the years and especially on All Ireland day on my little flat in Al Dhafra Tower on Hamdan Street. It was with deep regret that i heard of the passing of my great friend Weeshie. My sincere sympathy to Joan and all his family. I can honestly say that he was the greatest sports broadcaster that i ever worked with and i was so privileged to have enjoyed so many wonderful years in his company.
