I am so sorry to learn the news of Amelda's passing.
I was another of her students in SPDH (1977-80).
She contributed so much to nursing in Ireland & abroad in her teaching of future nurses for the decades ahead as we left her to forge our own careers.
I have such fun memories of our classes with Amelda all those decades ago. Happy times.

I just mentioned Amelda today and am so sorry to hear she has been in a nursing home I have passed on my way to Dunmore in Co Galway. Amelda taught us and did inspections on us as student nurses journeying from Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital to The Royal Hospital Baggot St . We had to look professional in our outdoor Uniforms. I really enjoyed Working with Amelda and visiting her in her home in Dublin. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam. Sincere sympathy to her family and friends. I was blessed to have known her.
A lovely, kind woman I got to know very well in my parish, since I’m also from Roscommon and know Castlestrange since I was a student in Donamon. May she rest in peace after a long life, fully and well lived.
