I feel very lucky to have worked with Andy in St. Andrew’s over the last 10 years. He was the surveyor and purveyor of mischief. He gave great advice on horses and how to navigate the politics of my neighbours in Dún Laoghaire, but also many slaggings for my chosen career in the TIFL Department.

There are no words meaningful enough to express how sad all of us at St Andrew’s College feel after the devastating news of Andy’s passing. Whilst now we weep with sadness, in time we will smile again remembering his humour and irreverence, behind which there was a love for the pupils and his colleagues. A love which we all felt equally for him. I will miss above all his trips home in my car - special times to have Andy to myself.
He knew something about everything and everyone and always cared, giving sound advice that was so much appreciated.
My love and deepest sympathy goes to Yvonne whom he idolised and his adored children and grandchildren of whom he was proud beyond belief. I hope we always stay in touch.
Andy - I hope the lemon drizzle cake is scrumptious in heaven. Sleep well, rest easy and save up lots of outrageous stories for when we meet again.

Im so sorry to hear about your dad. He was always full of chat and always had a joke to tell. He never let me go by without saying hello.
A true gentleman. Andy, you made friendship feel effortless — from our chats about Dalkey and your brother Noel to pensions, health, and your beloved Yvonne. There was never a topic off limits. You were a pure messer, and there was always great craic to be had. It was a joy to have known you, even if only for a short time. My heart breaks for your family and for all who knew and loved you. Rest easy, my friend. x
I've known Andy since his interview for St Andrews. On that day I could never have imagined his impact on SAC He was willing and efficient in all that he did. He was friend to all, colleagues and students alike.
He will not be remembered for what he did, but for what he was.
A man always cheerful despite his health problems..with time for everyone. Well done Andy!
With sympathy and love to Yvonne and all the family.

I had the privilege of knowing Andy for over 27 years—first as a student at St. Andrew's College, and later as a colleague. As a student, he could be a little intimidating, but even then, you could catch glimpses of the fun-loving spirit behind his serious exterior.
When I eventually worked alongside him, I came to truly appreciate the incredibly kind, caring, and humorous person he was. Andy had a unique gift for lifting spirits—there wasn’t a day that went by without him making someone laugh. We always joked that if Andy wasn’t slagging you, then you should be worried!
His presence will be deeply missed. Sending love and strength to his family during this difficult time.
