It was with great sadness that we heard during the week of the passing of our former committee member Mr.Ken Kinsella. Ken worked on the memorial committee as our treasurer for a long time. He was diligent and professional and a pleasure to deal with. He was very good company and travelled to Belgium and France with the committee to represent Kilkenny. He had volunteered to join us to help us achieve the memorial projects in Kilkenny. He had previously worked on the restoration of the Kilgobbin War Memorial and published the definitive work on the South County Dublin in World War One "Out of the Dark ". My sincere condolences to Liz, Hilary, Ken jnr and the extended family on the death of Ken. The messages posted here show Ken’s wide range of interests. I knew Ken through his work in commemorating the long-forgotten Irish men and women who served in the First World War. He was an active member of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association, an active member of the Kilkenny Great War Memorial Committee, the driving force behind the restoration of the Kilgobbin War Memorial and the author of “Out of the Dark”: - the definitive work on South County Dublin in the First World War. A gentleman, he was also a gentle man and a good friend.
