Andy Clancy

We were very fortunate to spend some time with Andy this summer and he was on sparkling form.
Meeting for lunch was a particular highlight as he regaled us with so many stories about growing up in Moy and his life in Lahinch. The number of people who came over and chatted was a testament to his time and place in the local community.
He will be missed incredibly.

I was shocked to hear about the passing of my Uncle Andy. It was always great to meet him on our trips to Lahinch, always the gentleman. My thoughts are with you Niamh and David.

I had the very good fortune to have been in college with Andy. He was a wee bit older than the rest of the class and kept an eye on us especially those who were wont to stray from the “flock”. Andy was always a “rock” when it came to advice or direction. Always a gentleman, kind and generous he will be very much missed by all his colleagues in the Veterinary Class of ‘68. Sincere sympathy to all his family and friends.

David and Niamh, I'm so sorry to hear of Andy's passing and I'm so sorry I missed the funeral. He is reunited with Rita now. I will always carry memories of jumping over the wall and calling in to the Clancys and it will be difficult to pass the house and not call in to see him and indeed Rita. He was a gentle gentleman. May Andy and Rita, together, rest in peace.

We have a beautiful picture of our late daughter, Emma Kate, standing beside Andy’s horse in a field beside his house. Sadly our daughter died last year but this special picture still hangs pride of place in our hall. R.I,P Andy.

Many years ago when my family and I were visiting my first cousin (Peggy Flanagan) in Lahinch Co Clare Ireland
We got talking one morning after mass to a lovely friendly man and during our long interesting conversation I realised that his sister was a class mate of mine in Mountmeelick boarding school Co Laois many years ago.

Andy would fill your heart with joy at the sight of his of coming towards you anywhere in Lahinch. He was steadfast and earthy and always considerate.
He has gone to God along with his beloved Rita RIP. He is assuredly in heaven. When we think of Christian faith there is no need to look further than the life of Andy Clancy. We could all aspire to be like him.
