Ann Marie MULLALLY

I am so sorry & shocked to read of Miss Mullally’s passing.

I was honoured to be one of her students throughout my education at the Mercy Convent over 30 years ago. Her genuine care, passion, intellect & encouragement of her students had a lasting impact.

She really was a gifted & inspiring teacher & human. I will always be grateful to my favourite teacher ever for the positive influence that she had on my life.

I was in college with Anne Marie and over the years we kept in contact. When I think of Anne Marie I remember her kindness, her beautiful smile and great sense of fun, her curiosity about life, people and places and above all her sincerity and her deep listening to you in conversation. She lived life to the full and was always there to help when she saw a need. It was a privilege and a blessing to have spent time in her company over the four years in college and the times we met afterwards. Anne Marie rest in piece, you have given us all so much goodness in life. Thank you

I am so sorry to hear of Ms Mullally’s passing. She was an inspirational and caring teacher. She brought leaving cert history to life with her energy and enthusiasm. My thoughts and prayers are with Ms Mullally’s family and friends at this sad time.

Sincere sympathy to Mary, Majella, Tom and all the family, and to Finola on the sad passing of Ann Marie. Our paths crossed for a short while when we were both in UHW some weeks ago, and I remember how kind and pleased she was to hear results indicating my improving despite her own prognosis that same day. She was a very special lady as is very evident from the beautiful tributes from friends and past pupils who knew her a lot longer than I did. Tabhair suaimhneas síoraí di, a Thiarna.

I had the pleasure of being taught English, religion and history by Ms. Mullally during my time in the Mercy (Class of '03). She was an amazing teacher who cared very deeply about all her students and was also a very kind person as well. Even though my studies took me away from the subject of history I took with her for my leaving cert, I still retain an interest in the subject to this day.

I offer my deepest condolences and sympathies to her family, friends and Ms Doogan during this difficult time.

She was an amazing colleague, eager for knowledge and full of insight. She was,also, a kind, caring person with a gentle but deep sense of justice and fairness and that wonderful smile said it all. I was fortunate enough to have Ms Mullally as a teacher during my time in the Mercy. Ms Mullally was the most incredible teacher - she had a wonderful way of evoking both interest & motivation in her students. She has been (& continues to be) a huge inspiration to me in my life.

Miss. Mullally, I’m so deeply sorry to hear you’ve left this world. You had a real grá for life and a smile/wink for everyone you met. I had the pleasure of sitting in your History classes throughout my time in school, and how lucky was I to have met and been taught by you. You were the absolute best teacher and had a real impact on every one of your students. You always made your classes fun and interesting and even sixteen years on I still remember her so vividly in the class, doing what she did best.

As so many others similarly stated, "Miss Mullally" is how I knew Ann Marie. Even some 35 years later, upon bumping into each other in a shop in Dublin, this was how I greeted her.

A capable, inspiring teacher she lit a spark for a deep love of learning in those of us who came to knowledge in a less standardised way. Her classes were always interesting and active participation and contribution was encouraged in her own unique way which held the attention of her students.
To her loved ones, nearest and dearest and former colleagues, deepest condolences. A very bright light has been extinguished but her genuine warmth, love of learning and skill as a teacher live on and extend far further than those students who once sat before her over the years.

Rest in Peace, "Miss". You have achieved far, far more than most and your understanding of what teaching is really about will never be forgotten.

I was lucky to be taught religion and history by ms Mullally from the first day in her classroom she demanded we all treat each other with love and respect. We were so sad to hear of Ann Marie’s passing . We firstly got to know Anne Marie at parent teacher meetings where her care of , interest in , and knowledge of both our daughters was clear to see and much appreciated . I had the pleasure of being taught both religion and history by Ms Mullally. I looked forward to her classes as she had this ability to teach each lesson in the most engaging way when she spoke one couldn’t help but be entirely focused , I can still recall her talking about Irish history as she passed around a rubber bullet it felt as though we were on the streets of Dublin during the rising. A one of a kind person who is so very missed ❤️

Ms.Mullally radiated kindness both inside and out. Her passion for her subjects sparked interest in everyone, and made classes enjoyable. She was such a caring woman who always spared time to ensure you were ok. She will be deeply missed.

I was shocked to hear of Ms. Mullally’s passing. I was fortunate to be taught History by her during my time in the Mercy and she inspired me to follow in her footsteps to Mater Dei Institute to become a teacher too. She gave nothing but her best, and expected the same in return from all of her students and for this she was so valued by so many. She lived her life doing what she loved.
