So sorry to hear of Ann's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ann in Maternity Dept. GUH.
Always a lady.
Sincere condolences to all Ann's family and may she rest in peace.
Ann, I remember you with a smile on my face.
Thank you for treating me with the same level of respect as you did your midwifery colleagues.
I was the girl some never noticed, the girl scrubbing and cleaning beds.
Some never knew my name, but you certainly did. You made my long days that little bit shorter.
I will always be grateful for people like you, so rare and so wonderful.

Sincere condolences to your family, and I wish you a happy and safe onward journey Ann.
Rest in Peace.
Our sincere condolences to Barry and the Martin family on the passing of your dear Ann.

My deep sympathy to Ann's husband Barry, family, friends & colleagues as Ann has departed to her eternal rest. My first meeting with Ann was at the beginning of my career as a Midwifery student, Ann mentored & taught with every fibre of her being. Her passion & committment to high standards of knowledge & professionalism was so apparent in her generosity of time & patience. Despite the demands of a busy & demanding workplace, Ann always made time to support, encourage, impart, lead & advocate. A true kind leader with a huge sense of social justice, courage, fairness, equality & fair play. Courageous in upholding & promoting high standards, Ann was kind, wise, knowledgeable, fair, a great conversationalist & more often with humour, a colleague, a lady & beautiful friend to us all. Ann had a huge positive influence on my involvement in activism & the INMO. Her legacy lives on. She will never know her powerful influence. Ann was one of the best & will always be so fondly remembered. Proud to know Ann & call her a friend. May Ann enjoy her well earned eternal rest. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Sinsere condolences to Ann's husband Barry, her family, friends & colleagues on her sad death. A true professional and great advocate. Rest in peace Ann

Dear John, Barry and family. Deepest condolences to you all. Thinking of you at this sad time xx
There are to many of Auntie Anne's achievements and virtues to mention here. She of course is so much more but I will focus on just one. As a Nurse there are countless people alive in Ireland right now because of Anne. There are countless families permanently changed for the better because of Anne. Therefore She lives on in those people She saved and their children to come. Anne's legacy is alive and continues to grow.

To Barry, my Cousin's and their children and Anne's friends, thinking of you all from the other side of the world.
My sincere sympathy to Barry, Audrey, Valerie, Rachel, Jonathan and extended Martin and Mitchell families on the death of your beloved Ann.
Farewell Ann, thank you for your immense contribution to the professions of Nursing and Midwifery. Your professionalism, vision, energy, courage, positivity, compassion and warmth inspired us all. Your work is done, may you rest in the light and serenity of your Heavenly home. Margaret Burke ( ex Portiuncula Hospital).
Condolences to Barry, Audrey, Valerie, Rachel and Johnathan at this sad time. May Ann rest in peace
Heartfelt sympathy to Barry, Audrey, Valerie, Rachel and Jonathan on the loss of Ann - wife, mother, grandmother and sister, RIP.
She was a great influence on the standards of care in Nursing and Midwifery and never missed an opportunity to educate and proactively teach students and newly qualified professionals.
As a long time member of the INMO plus her time in An Bord Altranais, she never wavered or hesitated to put forward and defend high professional practices which ensured a good outcome for the patient. Equally, she defended the necessity to improve working conditions for the profession.
We spent some time in Kurdistan as volunteers at the invitation of "Peace Winds Japan" and the International Red Crescent (Cross) educating and training nurses and midwives. Practical training was absent for these professions due to war. Ann was terrific in every way during these visits and the staff always wanted her view on procedures and patient outcomes.
Even though she was ill for a number of years, she did not let it interfere with her personal or professional life. following treatment episodes in Dublin, she would give a "condensed report" on return to the car and then normal conversation would resume.
At the INMO conference in Sligo this year, she took comprehensive notes on the study day and made very professional points to the Minister of Health as he left conference.
A Legend in the profession of Nursing and Midwifery.
May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.
Saddened at the news of Ann's death. My sincere Sympathy to Barry, to Ann's family and to Ann's friends. I knew Ann through the INMO. I had no realisation of just what a powerhouse Ann was when I first met her. I soon began to appreciate the enormous strength behind the tiny stature. And I must say, I came to admire so much about the amazing person she was. Especially the great passion she possessed for everything Nursing and Midwifery. But particularly, her beloved Midwifery profession. She may have been retired, but Ann was always a Midwife at heart. May she now reap the rewards of her labours, all of her labours! All of us who knew her, will miss her. Ann, Rest in Peace.
Deepest sympathy to Barry and all the Martin and Mitchel families on Ann’s passing. Ann was a long time member and a stalwart of the Westside Community Organic Garden. She will be sorely missed by all our members. Solas na bhflaitheas dá anam uasal.
Sincere condolences to Ann's family and friends. I had the pleasure of being a student midwife under Ann's guidance and later as a member of INMO where her knowledge and dedication to all was truly remarkable. May her gentle soul rest in peace x x
My sincerest condolences to Barry,Audrey,Valerie,Rachel&Johnathan.I was so sad to hear the news of your beloved Mothers passing .
I worked alongside Ann both as a student Midwife, and a newly qualified Midwife. It was both an honour and a Privilege. Her professionalism, her expert knowledge ,but above all her kindness and compassion to the women was exemplary. It was not unusual for Ann to arrive on the ward to follow up and support one of her breastfeeding women on her day off ..even on Christmas Day . She instilled in all her colleagues the importance of our”Code Of Practice “.There were many teaching moments in her daily clinical practice . Ann was so willing to share her practical skills & knowledge with her colleagues. The Art & Science of Midwifery , the importance of the protection of our role as Midwives , never giving a drug without it being prescribed, and the liquid gold composition of Breastmilk were to name but a few.She really cared about people and was extraordinarily kind to everyone. She was one in a million and ahead of her time in the area of Women's Health. The bed of heaven awaits and May her gentle soul Rest In peace .
Our deepest sympathies to the Mitchell and Martin families at the death of Ann Catherine, She will be greatly missed . Her wisdom and Love of Life and learning perpetuates.
Barry and Family, please accept my condolences to you all on Ann’s passing and may she Rest In Peace .

With great sadness I heard of Annes death. A dedicated colleague and a blazing advocate for midwives and nurses RIP Anne, condolences to all her family .
My sympathies to Ann's husband Barry and their family on Ann's passing. May she rest in peace.
I worked with Ann a long time ago in Maternity Dept.
Anne was a senior nurse when I first worked with her and it was very clear from our first conversation that she fully engaged in the true art of being with woman as a practicing midwife. Ann always was consistent in how she cared for patients that best practice was always maintained and this was seen also in her roles within An Bord Altranais to INMO when negotiating for nursing colleagues.

Alongside this Ann always had great sense of fun, curiosity , informative and a good colleague to work alongside.
Barry and family,
Such a blow to lose Ann. Love, hugs to you all. Singing songs of strength and comfort for you.

Ann dedicated her life to the advancement of nursing as a profession and was at the forefront of a movement that led to the establishment of The Commission on Nursing, that changed Nursing forever.
