Sincere condolences to the Ryan family. Anne taught my sister Cathy. When Cathy passed Anne comforted my mother (Teresa) - letting her know what a beautiful child she had reared. Anne had a way with words and always thinking of other people.

To Pat, Paraic, John and Gillian, I want to offer you my deepest sympathy on the death of your beloved Anne. She was such a wonderful lady, principal and indeed neighbour. We lived across the road from the school, The Mercy and staff were our always considered "our neighbours". This was truly evident when my mother Peggy died. The pupils and Anne lined the street forming a guard of honour as her cortege passed by. An honour I will never forget. Slán abhaile Anne.

Anne was a wonderful educationalist & leader who had a wonderful array of skills which she shared with her pupils & staff in Scoil an Linbh Iosa in Galway and nationally with her fellow principals most generously when required. I well remember Anne playing a key role during the early IPPN conferences held in Galway from 2001. She willingly shared her skills with us and it was a privilege to have known & worked with during those years.

She was my teacher, then in 1995 as an NQT, she took me under her wing and again in 2012 when I took over from her as Principal. She was a great mentor and provided me with wonderful support and encouragement.

I was disappointed to be abroad for her funeral.

I have so many great memories of Anne, she was an amazing mentor to me as we worked together to help make her vision of affordable and quality childcare available to all those in the community of Scoil and Linbh Iosa. Throughout our year's working together she supported and encouraged me and was a fantastic role model by her dedicated passion for children and teacher's under her care. She supported and nurtured all of her staff both professionally and personally. She had a great presence and was respected by all.
