It was a privilege to have Ms.Crilly as my music teacher. She was very committed and dedicated to each note played and each piece selected. I am gratefully appreciated for her input into me and for enabling me to have music in my career and in my parish life.
Thank you kindly Ms. Crilly for having the patience of a saint. You tried your best to teach me keyboard but despite your very best efforts I'd say I was what one might term talentless. I used to sidetrack you by having a natter. Secretly I think you were glad of the distraction! I'm sure the music in heaven 'twill be more the sweeter with you Ms. Crilly. God Bless and thank you for the memories.
Ah dear Miss Crilly, the end of an era in Drogheda, there'll never be another like you. How many young (and not so young !) people have passed through The Crilly School Of Music over all those years?? We are all the richer for it!
I studied piano with Miss Crilly from the age of eight, for ten years or so.... I would love to walk again into the tiny waiting room, up the winding stairs of her school, to the attic where my first lesson was, and then down to the front parlour on the first floor, with the polished circular table with Aspidistra plant, and then into the ground floor classroom for more advanced pupils and the electric pianos - lovely memories! She was the epitome of graciousness and patience, with a real interest in instilling a love of music in all her pupils. And always fundraised for UNICEF. Her written collections of stories and poems, usually about wayward, scatty pupils, were very observant and full of fun. A great, great Lady, with a witty sense of humour and a love of the seaside. I got to visit Miss Crilly in Áras Mhuire over the Christmas holidays, and although she wasn't very well, she remembered me, I had planned to go back again but it wasn't to be. Farewell Miss Crilly, Lovely Lady, thank you for your generosity of heart and spirit. Heaven will be all the more musical now!
