I was so sad to hear of Tony aka Cello's death. My condolences to you all. He was a most generous and gracious person. Always a delight to meet, such engaging company. He will be hugely missed by my family especially my Dad. Remembering gorgeous Eithne too.

Dear Armstrongs,

I was very sorry to hear about Tony's death. He and Eithne were wonderful friends to my parents, and our Tony and your Tony such life-long pals. It was always a pleasure to meet him, and he was very kind to all of us, he even took me climbing in Dalkey Quarry a couple of times when I was a youngster. May his memory be a blessing.

Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.

Rest well uncle Anthony and be at peace ❤️

Such sad news, a beautiful, kind and generous man. Met him every Bloomsday and enjoyed his hospitality & met his gorgeous daughters & grandchildren. He will be fondly missed.

Farewell cousin Anthony,
We were very close when we were boys together in Dublin and did lots of things together, like going to the pictures in St Stephens Green. However we met only infrequently since I left Ireland in 1960. But when when we met, I enjoyed your company enormously.

Sending you all my love for the passing of your beautiful Dad and Grandad. He was a wonderful man that will be missed by many! I’m sure Eithne has welcomed him with open arms. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time xx

His dedication and skill at initiating and organising so many Joycean events, and especially his genial presence at them, will be much missed.
