Tony was proud of the uniform, and we were proud to have been his comrades in Óglaigh na hÉireann, but this is a sad time, and we would like to express our sincere sympathy to Tony's family and friends may he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the Durnin family on the loss of your dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather! When I joined the FCA 35 years ago, Sergeant Durnin played a pivitol role in our development, turning us recruits into soldiers. We had an excellent team of NCOs around us, which enabled us to develop a passion for military training and life, which is still inside many of us to this very day. Anthony was a very good NCO and a gentleman, known for his knowledge and humour, yet without any airs and graces. We held him in high esteem. Wishing the Durnin family strength at this very sad time. May Anthony rest in peace!
