Our sincerest sympathy to Louise, Barry, Derek & Bryan on the death of your Dad, Tony. We were neighbours for many years and have very happy memories of that time. May he rest in peace with his beloved Patricia.
I worked to Tony in the early 80’s in Networks RTÉ. He was a lovely person to be with. He was a brilliant engineer and a super human being. I remember that his wife wasn’t very well, he had a young family and he was the Project Engineer on the Clermont Cairn Transmitter in Co Louth. The Transmitter was designed to broadcast into Northern Ireland. I remember him telling me that for 6 months before they went live with programmes, a test card was putout for all the aerial erectors and TV Shops to get ready for the live event. It was Tony’s decision to go live at 6 PM… just in time for the Angelus… Tony grew up in England , understood fully the Irish situation and took great pleasure in that bit of roguery. I learned a lot from him and I wish RTÉ made it easier for him, considering all the pressures he was under domestically.
Deepest sympathy to Louise, Barry, Derek, Bryan and their extended families on the death of their Dad.
Tony was a helpful and knowledgeable colleague and always welcome

So sad to hear of Tony's death. Remembering all the times we had on transmitter sites all over the country . He was great company. Condolences to all the family
So sad to hear of the passing of my dear pal Tony. I had such fun playing tennis with him over many years and I always admired how well he hit high backhand volleys! But I was more impressed with Tony as a fellow electronics engineer - his skills and achievements over his life were phenomenal. He was also the kindest and warmest friend anyone could have. My sincere condolences to all the family.
Goodbye old tennis partner. A better human being than many of us.
