Deepest sympathy to the Jordan family on the death of Anthony. He was in St.Jarlath's when I was there. We spent four years in Maynooth and one year in St. Pats College. I was very happy to meet him after so many years at a reunion meeting. I would love to have attended his funeral but was unable to do so due to having surgery. May he rest in peace.

Just heard of Tony’s passing with shock. Since teaching together in the CRC in Clontarf Tony and I met at intervals in Thurles etc. He has always been an encourager and so unassuming. Mary, if you remember me, I just know his loss is so great. My sense is that I have lost a friend and a lovely man.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Tony.
We knew Tony through many shared interests including volunteering on Saturday evenings for many years and as one of his readers on Yeats Day which he organised so well with great enthusiasm at Sandymount Green.
Tony was a very interesting man with many varied talents; we attended many of his book launches.
A very kind and caring man with a great sense of humour - the world will be a poorer place without him.

who possessed a great intellect It was always a pleasure to

topics from history,politics, GAA and the changing face of Ireland.

I was very sorry to hear of Tony’s death.
I first met him when I was canvassing in Sandymount and realised quickly that he was a source of vast knowledge. He had a great interest in literature and politics, and had a very sophisticated understanding of Irish history.
I extend my condolences to all his beloved family.

So sorry to hear that Anthony has died. I was aware of him through his many books and eventually met him at the funeral of his late cousin and good friend of mine, Donal Toolan. He was a lovely man and it was a pleasure to hear from him from time to time on Twitter. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He will be missed by many and remembered with great warmth and fondness.
