Tony, lover of stamps and tales of the seas. For 22 years the best neighbour, next door neighbour. Listener of Elvis, like loud, really loud, when I moved in 22 years ago, that was the deal breaker for me. Anyone with that musical taste, yours and maybe mostly Nuala's was a win for me. From the moment I moved in, with only a wall between us, there was nothing but kindness. Days, months, years, of looking at Dalkey United shirts drying on the line nest door.
Lunches in The Club on a daily after Nuala died, but Tony kept going, kept her flowers growing in the garden.A man who always checked in during a power cut. A man who always had a bowl of sugar or a spare battery or a cigarette. A man who has triumphed, despite incredible loss, and a million heart issues, and other illnesses. A neighbour who was always just next door. Thank you Tony for your kindness, your laughs, your solid friendship. We will miss you. I hope you already know how much. x
