Deepest condolences to Miriam and all the Sweeny family. Deirdre, I know, has very fond memories of Anto, which is a very nice thing to able to say of someone.
A wonderful, interesting, knowledgeable man with a great sense of humour. I'm privileged to have had him as a friend and to have been his friend too.
I first met Anto in England early in 1973.
We hit it off and met regularly while he lived in England, less frequently after he returned to Dublin. He was very good company and I was always pleased to see him when I visited Dublin. (I still live in London). He was interested in everybody and treated everyone with great respect, even those who possibly did not deserve it.
Anto, you will be missed.

A great Neighbour who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew you. thank you Anto... wont be the same without you :-(
My sincere condolences to all the Sweeney family. Anthony was an inspiration by dealing with his illness in a consistent upbeat spirit to the end. When I spoke with him the day before he passed, he was looking forward to going to the hospice, and he seemed more interested in how I was keeping. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to all the Sweeney family.
