I've only just found out about Tony's passing and I want to extend my sincere condolences to Jeanne, Darragh, Deirdre, and the extended Delany family. I will just re-iterate what my former colleagues from Norwich Union have said; Tony was the most wonderful man to work for, a pure gentleman and a father figure to us all, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and provide a listening ear, no problem was too big or too small to approach him with. He will be very much missed and we know we will never see the likes of him again.

I came to know Tony when we were both students at St. Michael's, Omeath, finding him to be very likeable and friendly.

Over the decades, we were in touch occasionally, then more regularly in recent years. I watched him forge a very successful professional career, culminating in membership of an important government committee, after retirement.

He was a good and gentle man.

Absolutely shocked to hear this very sad news.Tony was a wonderful work colleague and great friend in the Norwich Union for many years. Tony was a kindhearted, genuine, patient, caring, compassionate man. A father figure to so many of the staff that worked for him in the N.U.. Very few people working in the Insurance Industry had as much integrity as he had.Cant ever recall anyone having something bad to say about him. He will be sadly missed. May he R.I.P.

Similar to a lot of posters I worked with Tony in NU in the 90s. He took a chance on a lot us just starting off, always reminding us to "learn our trade". Tony was a man who could cut down the best legal argument by simply looking over the top of his glasses!

Whilst we worked in different sections for most of our careers, Tony was one of the most helpful, obliging and supportive colleagues I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The claims dept. whuch he trained and managed for many years were a credit to him..

Tony “raised” a couple of generations of Norwich Union claims staff with skill & humanity. He had a quiet presence that conveyed warmth and authority in equal measure. To many he was a mentor, father figure, and guide. Many of us benefited from his wisdom and kindness.

Tony was my boss in Norwich Union from November 1995. He was more like a Dad to us all. A lovely, kind mentor and gentleman with a glint in his eye....always ready for some fun. Thoughts with all his family. RIP Tony.
