Tony was a wonderful person.. I have many fond memories of him down through the years- only recently, I was chatting to him in the country market in Birr - he reminded me to 'not to forget to send in a report to Birr Review on the activities of Birr Historical Society' - his kindness, good humour, interest in people will be missed by family, friends and the wider community. Dear Margaret and Nuala I can’t imagine the sadness of losing dear Tony so soon after Ann. Father and daughter are together now and may they both rest in peace. I will always remember my childhood holidays in Birr with the Hogans, Tony’s great sense of humour, the generosity of both Tony and Margaret and what a character he was. We in Seir Kieran’s NS were very sorry to hear about Tony’s passing. As a past principal of Seir Kieran’s NS, Tony’s service to our school was much appreciated by all in the parish of Seir Kieran. Only recently we celebrated our 150 year anniversary and we were delighted that Tony was in a position to attend. We in Seir Kieran always found Tony to be simply a lovely man and we sympathise with all the Hogan family on his passing. May Tony’s soul rest in peace.

I first encountered Tony in Birr Stage Guild in the mid 70's.His kindness and good humour was evident from the beginning. His banter with one and all was most entertaining.We met regularly through INTO and of latter years it was a joy to meet and chat him at music events in Birr theatre. He had a special grà for a fellow Galwegian.

Dear Margaret and family, I think I first encountered Tony (a brief "hello" in passing) on a Saturday in 1988, when Margaret had 4 of us from her English class to Hillside to prepare for a student debate vs Cistercian College Roscrea. It took a good few years after that for me to realise Tony was a past Principal of Seir Kieran N.S., where I was talking to him at the 150th celebration just this past June. Always a pleasure to meet him and hear his anecdotes and lore, and I wish this could have been more often. My deepest condolences on your loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

One of many fond memories was the late, great Liz Kennedy swatting him on the head with a rolled-up newspaper for causing a fuss in the quiet backstage area when he arrived in to give the post-show speech with BSG. Of course we always tried to wind him up after that on the subsequent nights, bait he was only too happy to accept.
