Anthony (Tony) McGrath

Sincere sympathy to kitty and all family.One thing I forgot to mention was that in the late 1940s Tony erected a boxing ring with permission from Mrs Lyons in her back garden that was back to back with his own garden.He matched the boys as he thought fit and some great contests went ahead with Tony keeping a watchful eye.He thought local boys how to box and defend themselves.That was the love that Tony had for boxing,being a champion boxer himself.May he rest in eternal peace.

The Central Stores and bullring were prime locations in our daily lives , running in for forgotten food supplies like milk, sugar or tea and of course for delicasies like icepops or Tayto crisps.
I spent many hours doing handy jobs for Davy senior. These memories become more poignant with time and distance. May Tony rest in peace, Amen.

So sorry Kitty and family to hear about the death of Tony, he was a gentleman and a great neighbour to us and our mam, my longest memory of him is going up to the shop on Friday afternoon and paying our weekly bill and he used to give me a mars bar or a twix for paying our weekly bill.
