It’s just short of 60 years since I worked with Antje in my first job in a Dublin accountancy firm. I remember her as a calm, gentle presence and a good colleague.

So sorry to see that she has now gone from us. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

Antje will be sorely missed by so many people, her friends here in Ballyferriter, in Dublin, Wicklow and of course in Germany. She was a wonderful person who helped so many people in so many ways. She had a great interest in how the next generations of her family and friends were getting on and never failed to ask about them, not to mention the many presents she gave them -between hand knitted items when they were small to book tokens and such later on. She was so inspiring and active with daily swims -encouraging all her visitors to accompany her, not taking No for an answer. Her gardening ability was legendary and she generously shared the fruits of her labour. She really appreciated the environment and the beauty of this place. Let us take time to do the same and remember our wonderful loving loyal friend and Thank God we had the privilege of knowing her and calling her our friend. Slán Antje -" ní imithe uainn ach romhainn."

She always had a kind greeting and showed an interest in our lives whenever i met her at Bèal Bàn beach or in church when we went back home. Go raibh mìle maith agat Antje.

Me and my whole family were very sad to this dreadfull new...our shinny Brenda is gone to the sky, a new good star takes care of us....All the people who met Antje, loved her...she was so kind, so gentle...a real good fairy....I remember so many lovely memories....Dear Anje we'll always missed you...you stay in our hearts.....I feel realy sorry for my awfull English, but I wrote with my heart....Love from Bretagne ! Antje, one thing I always admired about you besides your warm nature and brilliant sense of humour, was the fact that you swam in the sea every day, and now I know that you're swimming in the bluest of seas, on the sunniest of days. I also know, of course, that there wasn't a day that wasn't beautiful when we visited you down in Ballyferriter.

Sitting in the chair next to your hospital bed, I found myself with a terrible appetite for another slice of your apple tart, or anything in the world that would have let me sit next to you one more time.

She was a great friend. Antje was open hearted and open minded, she shared so much time and energy looking after those around her, bringing us all great joy through her love and interest in all that she did, and all that we did. My heart is broken to think Antje has left us. A beautiful, generous and warm presence throughout our whole lives. When we were last down to visit she said she was lucky to have known five generations of our family; we all know we were the lucky ones to have known you. En mai elle m’accueillait dans sa jolie maison d’An Gort Mór, retrouvant les amis de Penn Stivien, revoyant les magnifiques paysages, partageant la belle et bonne table, les bains de mer, les abeilles, le jardin, et la si délicieuse recette de l’elder flower cordial. Une semaine de doux et beaux souvenirs, éclairée par son grand et magnifique sourire.
C’est un immense merci pour toi Antje, pour ton accueil, ta générosité, ton intelligence, pour toutes ces années d’amitié profonde et pure, au-delà des frontières.

A ses familles en Allemagne et en Irlande, de la part de tous ses amis bretons, nous exprimons nos très sincères condoléances, nous garderons d’Antje le souvenir d’une femme au grand coeur, aimante et fidèle.
Et cet été nous prierons pour elle, à Bulat et Sainte Anne d’Auray, pour les fêtes de Sainte Anne.

We never went home from Ballyferriter without feeling better. Your encouraging ways of getting us in for a swim, whether it was Beal Bán or Ventry. Your comforting food. Your Baileys in our porridge. Our chats every week. Oh how we will miss you.

What a sad time this is to be without Antje, a woman of enormous stature, grace, purity, beauty, kindness, and wisdom. Her heart was full of love and compassion for so many.
To be among her friends was an honor and a privilege. We enjoyed many delicious meals, meaningful conversations and tours around her beloved Ballyferriter. She loved sharing and giving. Our trips to Ireland always included time with Antje. We cannot perceive a trip without seeing her.
Rest in peace, Antje, from your Irish American cousins. We love you.
