Sincere (but belated ; just heard ) sympathy to Janet and all Aodhan's family and friends on his untimely passing. To share in the tributes and to recall the late Aodhan's career as a journalist from first meeting him on the difficult path for young Journalists in Council reporting and later pleasant interactions at sports occasions particularly hurling . May Aodhan now rest in Peace RIP

With shock and sadness I learned of Aodhan's untimely passing. A superb journalist with 'Nationalist' newspaper for many years, Aodhan was held in the highest esteem by his media colleagues and the wider community in County Tipperary.
A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting him walking in Kildare street in Dublin and we decided to go to nearby Buswells Hotel for a cuppa. We reminisced about so many events we attended as journalists down through the years, and the wonderful personalities we had encountered. And of course hurling got a mention.!!
Aodhan has departed this world all too soon. To his family, extended family, and countless friends we offer our deepest sympathy. Peace to his gentle soul.

The passing of Aodhan is the saddest of news. He covered a case i was in early in my legal career, and thereafter never failed to greet me and chat about whatever was going on. I cannot add to the glowing tributes made to his professionalism and humanity.
During a quiet day last summer, i had the privilege of being introduced to you by Aodhan, his beaming smile at doing so was obviously testament to something very special you shared.
We are all better for having known him, but i suspect most of us only had glimpses. I am very sorry for your loss.

If I said to Aodhan that he was a gem of a journalist, he would probably reply that that sounded like one former journalist on whose ( mis) deeds he often reported. I first met him when he worked for the Clonmel Nationalist and kept in touch later in Dublin. He had a keen eye for what was really going on , and a good nose for a story . He always had something interesting to relate . He will be sadly missed in the courts. Deepest sympathies to all .

This is shocking and deeply sad news to get. It seems to be true; only the good die young. I'm sorry I didn't have the chance to message Aodhan in recent weeks, but grateful we kept in touch over the years since studying journalism together in Galway (1996/97). What a lovely, gentle (but opinionated!) and principled guy. One of the good ones. I'm really sorry you have to go through this. Aodhan was great.

I was deeply saddened to hear,belatedly, of Aodhán's passing last week. I had the privilege of knowing Aodhán both as a barrister and a judge. He was an exceptional journalist who carried out his important work efficiently and without fuss. We had our little chats in the corridors of the Four Courts and I always left them feeling uplifted, and often amused at some event so humerously described. I may have forgotten many of the cases I was involved in but I shall not forget Aodhán. He has left us too soon. I offer my sincere condolences to Janet and all Aodhán's family. Janet, Michael, Maura, Eoin, Ronan and family. Aodhán’s early departure leaves a void that is as unfair as it is inexplicable. Aodhán has been a constant and very positive presence in the Superior Courts of Ireland for many years. He shed sunlight through his words on very many important and tragic matters that have tested our legal system and indeed our society. I know firsthand that Aodhán’s levels of accuracy, balance and fairness were matters of great pride for him - he was trusted by newspaper editors and newsrooms the length and breadth of the country. His work undertaken with care, diligence and skill. His talent for spotting a story, literally unrivalled. Aodhán educated the public throughout Ireland and abroad well beyond what appeared in the daily news. His positive approach, his soundness, and his professionalism are missed by countless lawyers, journalists and his very wide circle of friends. Aodhán spoke so fondly and with very high regard of his new family abroad over the years, and most especially in recent times. We all miss him. May his memory be a blessing, and may you find strength in your memories of him, in your love for him, and in the rightfully glowing tributes that have flowed since his untimely passing. RIP.

For Aodhán’s wife, parents and family, I am very sorry for your much-too-early loss. Aodhán was a gentle, courteous, fiercely intelligent, and quiet (until in print), presence around the Four Courts complex, a person of integrity and energy, an embodiment of the constitutional guarantee that justice must be done in public. Aodhan was a decent, smart, witty, friendly, brilliant person and an exceptional Journalist and I will miss him terribly as will his very wide circle of friends and family. We worked together for a time many years ago in The Connacht Tribune where he made a big impression and a shared interest in Connacht Rugby and Galway hurlers ensured there was always something to touch base with every now and again. Terribly sorry to see. Ran into Aodhán regularly occasionally over the past 25 years and the chat was always terrific: hurling, journalism, Everton (and Spurs), whatever. Fine reporter, great guy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

I was fortunate to know Aodhàn as an officer of NUIG Hurling Club during the 90s. He was fun to be around and dedicated to our success. Although our paths no longer crossed, I enjoyed reading his work and was saddened to hear he had passed away. May he rest in peace and his family are in my prayers.

I first met Aodhán in Aloysius(secondary school-where we both had the honour of being taught Irish by Aodháns father Micheál)Aodhán was kind,clever and good humoured and we have remained friends ever since.Always so positve & articulate, it was easy for everybody to see how he exceled at journalism.

I enjoyed most of all your insight and knowledge of all worldly matters,particularly of a sporting nature.I will miss talking & texting about various sporting games.
