I am so shocked and saddened to hear the news of Aoife’s passing. I was a student at UCD and Aoife was one of the friendliest and kindest people that I ever met there. She really will be missed. I still think of her fondly 10 years later and loved catching up with her when I returned. Thinking of Aoife’s family and friends at this sad time. RIP Aoife. Ashley

I am so sorry to hear the very sad news of Aoife’s passing. Aoife was a very kind and helpful person. She will be greatly missed by all those that she has helped. I paid several visits to UCD chem eng over the years and Aoife was always there to help and look after me. Always smiling and totally dedicated to the Students.

So sad and shocked to hear of Aoife’s passing. She was such a vibrant and witty person, and would lift your day when you met her in UCD, or with Aonghus in Templeogue Tennis Club. Aoife seemed to have great insight into the affairs of the world, and could see the bright and funny side of so many situations. My condolences to the Dungan and Carney families. Dear Adrian - and all the family, It was so sad to hear of Aoife's untimely death - she was a joy to know and a memory to cherish. She was, without saying, a pleasure to work with during her time in Agriculture in UCD in the early days of the MERM programme. But I've always been glad that you took my general message to students to "go and talk to Aoife about that" to heart!

Adrian, I was terribly sad to hear of Aoife's death. She was a lovely person. My heart goes out to you and to your family.

My husband (Joachim) and I (Cosima) are deeply saddened by Aoife’s untimely passing. We lived and worked in Dublin from 2005 to 2009. And we are still very grateful for having had the opportunity of getting to know Aoife, who was one of the most sincere, open-minded and helpful human beings we have ever met. We returned to our home country Germany in 2009, but ever since that time we have made a point of making short trips to Dublin at least once a year because we still regard the Irish capital as a home from home up to the present day. And each time during those trips we dropped into Aoife’s office for a chat. In the course of time Aoife became a kind of incarnation of all those things we have always loved and still love about Ireland in general, and Dublin in particular: friendliness, kindness and cheerfulness.
We will miss you very much, Aoife !!! RIP
