Austie and I were boys together, we were first cousins and as close as can be. That continued through the years until we were separated in young adulthood by different pursuits and geography. As boys we raced ponies and played hurling at the Convent Cross. Somehow he always won!

Austie loved people including many beyond his immediate and extended family. His ability to be deeply available to others, to be a friend and confidante, made him a very effective parent and leader in all his endeavors. He would have been a great President or leader in any context he chose.

Austie loved life and lived it well. He was able to envision dreams and get others to join him in building them. He was a winner throughout his life.

I share the entire family’s bereavement of his loss. I am deeply saddened by his passing as I have lost one of my best friends. I will miss him terribly. May he rest in peace!
