Deepest Sympathy to Mae, Patricia, Heather and John on the passing of Austin. May he rest in peace.
To all of Austins family and friends at this sad time, I pray for your inner peace. My father Tommy played hurling with Austin and was on the 1960 Marlfield team who won the South final, the first Clonmel team to do so. My dad often spoke of Austins prowess on the field, and his nice personality. They must've been great times to be alive. I think between all those gone to their eternal reward there's the makings of manys a chat about our much loved game.
Very sad to hear of the passing of Austin and my condolences to the English family and Austins many friends. I met Austin many years ago, late 70's early 80's, when I hurled with the Tipperary exiles team in New York. He had a great zest for life and loved the reception he got when he came home and hurled for Marfield and he loved the wit of the home supporters as they shouted 'go on Kojak' to him as he hurled sublimely for his home team.
