Sincere symapthies to all the family on Austin's passing. I only heard this sad news today. I worked with Austin for many years in The Irish Times and succeeded him as Scrutineer upon his retirement. Austin was a gentleman and time spent in his company was both eductional and fun in equal measure. Rest easy Austin.
Dear Maeve, Ruairí and Aisling
All of us O'Sheas are so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved Dad. We remember both of your parents fondly. What a lovely gentle man your Dad was. While we all have different memories, I remember great fun with Aisling and pals playing in your fabulous tropical garden. End of an era for sure. We are thinking of you all and hope you stay safe and well. From the O'Sheas, New Park Road
My sincere condolences on the passing of Austin. He was a colleague in The Irish Times sometime during the second half of the last century and if recollection serves me also in Cahill’s Printers of Parkgate street. It may be of interest that a hibiscus shrub which he couldn’t get to grow in his garden he passed on to me. The original flourished until if blue over in a storm, but a cutting which I propagated still blooms each September and reminds me of him. May he rest in peace.
