Greetings,Romi and family. Please accept our sincere condolences on the death of Barbara. We have great memories of herself and Ian with their old (RobinHood) bright green Land Rover and horse box in the 1970’s travelling all over Wicklow and south county Dublin to various horsey events including the Bray Hunt Harriers, Bray Hunt Pony Club and of course the Foxborough Riding Club. She was a great stalwart of the RDAI and a great horsewoman. Both my mother Teresa and my mother in-law Elizabeth Gordon joined Barbara on RDAI business which took them all over Ireland and over to Warrington. This was a great foundation legacy for the organisation. We knew well her brother Terry through our connection to Aravon School. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Martin & Edwina Bernon.
Barbara was a much respected volunteer and coach with RDAI since the early 1970's. She had huge equestrian knowledge which she willingly shared with us all, and a real empathy with the children and adults whose lives we aim enhance through their interaction with horses.
She was Chair of our Training Committee for many years, she was Area Coach for Area East, and latterly, she was Vice President of RDAI.
We will always be so grateful for what she taught us all and she will be fondly remembered by all of us who knew her.
Dear Romi,
My thoughts are with and your family, I am very sorry for your loss.
Victoria
Sincere sympathy to Barbara's famiy! May she rest in peace.
Barbera was the pillar of our East Wicklow RDA. Every Tuesday morning in Ballinteskin no matter how cold, and it was always cold. Even when she was not up to teaching or leading the ponies she still came and steered the lesson from her chair at the top of the arena. Her depth of knowledge of the ponies and the children was immense. I didn't always agree with her but she was always right. Now we ask ourselves at times of doubt "What would Barbera have done?". Her wisdom will live on and we will do our best to keep up the good work that she always did so well.
May she rest in peace.
To Romi and family my sincere sympathy. I have so many happy memories of her Ian and of course yourself and all the horses.
Unfortunately I am unable to attend the service on Saturday to which I would like to go so apologies for the omission.
