Barbara Helen Fagan

Barbara was my manager when I first entered the civil service. She was an absolute professional and lady and she was really missed when she retired. Thinking of you all at this heartbreaking time, Barbara spoke so proudly and lovingly about you all when I worked alongside her.

She always had time to talk about her much loved grandchildren. One of the last times I met Barbara was on her way down to do The New Years Day swim. I thought she was going to watch but oh no she was going in with her family. Well done Barbara! May you Rest in Peace.

Barbara was a wonderful person, such kindness, such elegance and great fun. A great collector of waifs and strays. The best parties ever and she had friends from many walks of life. I shall be eternally grateful for her friendship.

Goodbye dear Barbara. I will truly miss you. I will miss our chats and laughs. You were such a special, kind soul. I’d always say I’d love to age like you. You were so full of life and wonderful curious energy. I used to see you walking everywhere, I used to see you doing the runs for meals on wheels, minding your grandchildren, helping out at Rathmichael fate, doing the garden, going to the cinema, going to plays and galleries, helping people, playing banjo….and so much more.
And all this done in most elegant clothes. I will never forget the earrings you wore and cherished and seemed to have dozens of them.
I loved listening to the stories from the past how you went to college at the same time as Sallie. It took you longer to do it but you did it. You graduated. Barbara you were absolutely amazing. I hope you are with your beloved Jonathan now having a G&T and looking down on us.
Fiona, Sallie and Kieran and everyone in the family so sorry for your loss. Barbara was one of a kind and will be forever missed.
