My dear, sweet, clever, talented, beautiful auntie Barbara! I will miss making you laugh. I will miss teasing you about so many things, like making you put your lipstick on without a mirror and watching you screech with laughter, making the operation much more complicated. I will miss teaching you about Pinterest for the first time, and listening to you laugh every time you learned it for the first time!! I will miss you cooking Halloumi for me every time I’m back in Ireland. And our jaunts on the bus to various destinations (how I marvelled at your public transport knowledge!). I will miss telling you to “suí síos agus ligean do scíth“ (graciously taught to me by yourself and Noel when you stayed with me in Canada). I will miss not knowing which Barbara is being summoned by other family members when we would be together. Gad, how I will miss you. Everything about you. All of you. I couldn’t be more proud to be named after you, because mum thought I was the image of you the minute I was born. I didn’t see it myself, but we shared so many things in common and I only have beautiful memories of you. (Okay except for that one awful plastic orange belt you gave me one Christmas). Thank you for the love and joy you brought into my life. My heart aches today, but as we both love the Lord Almighty, and are assured of his promise of salvation, I rest knowing it is in His presence where I will see you again. With lipstick. No mirror. I Love you. ~ Barbara.
Rest in peace
