He was a valued member of our club who will be remembered for his contributions but especially for his presentation of a musical selection at our Christmas meeting.May he rest in peace.

I just heard of Barra's recent death and was so sorry to have missed the opportunity of sympathising in person. What a great contribution Barra made to the musical life of the city over many years through his many opera gala concerts. He brought the best of international singers to us but did not forget to platform the best of local talent. The opportunity given to local choirs to share the stage with the stars was particularly welcomed by those of us who were a part of the choral scene. Many good memories of a visionary, dedicated, and charismatic man. My deepest sympathies to Mary, Deirdre and family on his passing. Ní feicfear a leithéid arís. I leaba na naomh go raibh sé.

I am so sorry to have heard of your dad's passing on my return last night from a holiday abroad and regret not having been present at his funeral service.

My sincerest condolences to you and also to your mom and family.

Some of the most exquisite operatic arias move me to tears and I was introduced to them when working with Barra and yourself, promoting those wonderful operatic concerts at the City Hall.

Thanks to Barra for being willing to take a chance on introducing opera to the ordinary people of Cork at a time when exposure to light opera was so limited.

Barra, you will always be part of the fabric of the history of Cork.

May you rest in peace, Amen.

A man of many talents, we remember his infectious smile and ready laugh. He created many wonderful memories for so many people and was a super accordion player, an added talent which certainly took us by surprise. He could charm the birds out of the tree and bring the greatest names to Cork. A tremendous life you can all be proud of. Sending our very best wishes and love.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Barra. When we moved to Ballintemple in the mid-sixties, the ÓTuama family were our lovely next-door neighbours. Years later when I was organising a charity fund-raising music event, I asked impresario Barra for his helpful advice which he freely gave and was a tremendous benefit in its success. Thank you Barra!. I offer my deepest condolence to his wife Mary, Deirdre, Eimer, Fiona, Fergus and the ÓTuama family. RIP Barra. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h'anam dílis.

Dear Mary,

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved husband Barra. I wish you and your family strength during this sad time. Barra was a huge influence in my early days, booking me for my first real job in Barley Cove back in the day. He always encouraged me to go for it, and keep trying. So, I'm extremely grateful to him for helping me, and I'm sure countless others.
His Operatic contributions to Cork are magnificent. Once again he showed great vision to make it happen, proving once again, that he was ahead of his time in creative thinking.
He will be a force to be missed. Barra was a true Corkman, who made where he came from a better place. May he rest In peace.
