It was always a pleasure to run into Barry over the years. I remember him fondly growing up; and later in London and back in Dublin. My deepest sympathy to Raymond Deirdre and Ailish and also to Dee and daughters.

I was so very sorry to hear about Barry. He truly was one of a kind.

I will always remember his incredible kindness. He used to insist on walking me home after babysitting — even though I lived right next door!! He also went out of his way to help us secure the most beautiful restaurant venue for our wedding, something I’ll always be grateful for.

To Fiona and all the Canny family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of knowing Barry growing up, as we were lucky enough to live nearby. He had such a natural way with people, especially in running his restaurant, always creating a place where people felt at home. He was a lovely person who touched so many lives, and he will be remembered with great affection.

I was greatly saddened to hear of the untimely death of Barry. I looked after his eye conditions for the best part of 20 years and we got to know each other a lot over many visits and treatments. He was both brave and optimistic, kind, curious, and full of life..he was such a positive, people oriented person, deeply devoted to his family. Please accept my sincere condolences.
