Barry Newman took pride in his work. Whatever the task, it was completed to perfection- whether it be the Drogheda Boys pitch ('a billiard table') or the family back garden ('a paradise').
Barry and his dear wife Nora (a neighbour of my mam's in Hand Street) were the perfect hosts any time we called.
A chance meeting with Barry on his trusty bike was always a trip down memory lane, full of warmth and wisdom...and a fresh vegetable recommendation!! Just like his dad, he made sure many did not go hungry.
It was always family first with Barry and they are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Thanks for everything Barry..Míle Buíochas díot.

The sad demise of Barry Newman evokes memories of our friendship. A great neighbour and work colleague in "The Margarine" for many years. We travelled to work together and his early morning call, through my letter box, made sure we 'clocked in' before the 6am start on the early shift. He loved nothing more than showing me his horticultural skills and his beautiful flowers on my occasional visits to his home where there was always a great friendly welcome. His wife, Nora, and his family were paramount in his life. To his immediate family and the extended Newman family I tender our most profound sympathy.

Barry was a gentle and caring man who loved to chat and joke around. I had many days of laughter with barry.
I am so sorry to the family during this time of year. He is now with Nora in the garden planting flowers as he loves to do. Rest in peace, my friend.
