I wish to express my deepest condolences to Barry's wife and family on the departure of your loved one. I became acquainted with Barry in the early stages of my refereeing career when he was a player with Cork Celtic and I later had the pleasure of officiating with him during his refereeing career. He was always respectful and good humoured and I am saddened to learn that he has passed away.

My sincere symphaties to the Notley family. I had the
pleasure of meeting him at a wedding recently. I was a young Cork Hibs fan but that not stop me respecting him as a magnificent footballer either at centre forward or centre half. He gave me a short biography of his soccer career from Derby County,Amby Fogarty and Cork Celtic. I could have listened to him for the evening. He was quite a story teller. I am just in shock. Cork City is poorer as a result of the passing of Barry Notley, above all, an absolute gentleman.
