My heartfelt sympathy to Mairead and all the family. I only learned today - 9 Nov - of Barry's passing.
My late husband Derek(IDA/Enterprise Ireland) was very fond of Barry.
I myself was in IDA and Barry looked after me in Germany on an International Development Ireland progranne.
I wish you all recovery and hope you move forward. Its difficult I know

Sincere sympathy to Mairead and the O’Leary family on Barry’s recent sad passing. I had the privelige of seeing Barry in action first hand during my time as IDA Chairman. He was an outstanding CEO, leading the IDA team to deliver so strongly for Ireland during its time of extreme need in dealing with the fall-out from the financial crisis. Always strongly client-focussed he was equally diligent in working with the Board as appropriate. On a personal level, Barry was a pleasure to work and be with. He leaves a very positive legacy. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Mairead, my sincere condolences. I have such wonderful memories of those days we all shared together at (Willwoods) Williams & Woods and then Nestle. From the first moment you caught his eye, Barry was smitten and you both quickly became such a happy, young loving couple! During this time too which was pre-IDA, Barry had a main role in the development of the costs and works departments within the company and generated a series of high work standards which were applied throughout the manufacturing areas. All of this was achieved due to his calm and persuasive ability to encourage his colleagues and work teams to implement alternative work methods. And of course, his humour and smile always expanded to that O’Leary laughter which will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace Barry.

Barry was a work colleague but most of all he was a good friend. He was kind, generous and compassionate, especially when you needed it most. He loved his family and was so proud of the boys. I was honoured to participate in his funeral today and will cherish all the memories. He will be missed. My sincere condolences. Joy

Barry was a consummate professional. I have many great memories of trips to Italy and Germany to meet banks and insurance companies. Barry was ultra prepared with detailed briefings and was an amazing salesman. Off duty was also great fun, with restaurants also well researched! Excellent company, could put anyone at ease and always warm and welcoming. I think of him fondly often. When I visit the IFSC I know he was instrumental in getting so many of those companies to set up there, a lasting indelible legacy.

My sincere condolences to the O’Leary family on your loss. Barry was a great source of advice and encouragement to me when I started off as a Plant Manager in Vistakon (J&J) Limerick in 2006. Always approachable, always ready to help in any way he could and always able to see the funny side of things. Photos of him are still on walls in that Plant.
He was an exemplary public servant and truly an inspiration to us all, particularly for his leadership during tough times. He will always be remembered for his contribution to Ireland. RIP Barry, God Bless, your work is done.

I was so sorry to hear of Barry's passing. He was one of the best and nicest people I ever met. He was a fantastic help to me when I was growing my business. In June 1997, he brought me with him to Italy as a 'technical adviser', to help persuade Italian financial institutions to establish businesses in Ireland. Around a dozen of them established life assurance subsidiaries in Ireland directly or indirectly from that visit, making it one of the most successful IDA trips ever. Barry ran it like a military operation and worked us all very hard, but it was great fun. May he rest in peace.
