Ah what to say about such a sweet soul, taken from us far too young & leaving an enormous hole…I can only imagine how difficult it is for you Myra, Ger & Oonagh, our prayers are that soon the pain of separation will transform into magical memories.
Barry was such a great head - we had such craic back in the day of the gorgeous Glendiners & thought we were the bomb going to all the practice sessions of Against the Grain - aptly named as that describes Barry well. I was so glad to make contact again during Covid playing quizzes every weekend- a clever & quirky fella was Barry who didn’t suffer fools but always kept a kind heart.
Feeling lucky to have had him in our lives. Instead of Rest, I’m gonna say Soar x

Sincere sympathy to Myra , Gerard and Oonagh on Barry’s sad loss. Remember him as a little boy when I used to babysit you all with Angel and he always kept that broad smile.

There was a comfort and pleasure
to pull into Amsterdam, meeting Barry,
getting an idea of what was happening,
who to call and where to go…
served up with a coffee or a pint and a broad smile…
There are hordes of musicians
from Ireland and elsewhere who,
over the past 30 years or so were recipients of
Barry’s kindness, patience, hospitality
and dedication to live music
at Mulligans Irish Bar Amsterdam
and other mainland European venues…
Bless your wonderful, adventurous,
friendly and musical spirit always
