I cried and had to sit down for a second today seeing and hearing this news
4 Drowes court. That was my address, right across the street from Barrys. It’s where I struggled to figure life out as a 16 year old, met my high school sweetheart and a kid across the street younger in years but sharper than his peers, Barry was a great wit. For a time..which now feels forever ago he was like a little brother. Bundoran in the summer was fun for everyone..but every winter on those shite dark wet/windy nights and what would have been boring and killer to some. Barry and I played pool in his garage across the street every night for hours on end, we never kept a score just game after game and then follow it on with FIFA or John Madden on the PlayStation at my home until both or one of our mothers would call and say “time for bed” “school in the morning” what a time to have been alive, two young lads, back arse of Leitrim….0 f**ks nor worries…what memories to treasure. What an amazing young spirit/soul to have known. With heavy heart, thoughts and prayers to “the family across the street” Rest In Peace little brother, I’m sure there’s a pool table you can whoop my arse on in the next life xxxx

Barry's friendship was one of the best things about my childhood. His wit, humour and warmth often turned the mundane hilarious. His spark was so bright and I'll never have the words to express my gratitude for so many happy memories he and I made together.
