To say I felt like I had been punched in the stomach when I was told the news of Barts untimely and tragic passing would be an understatement.
No less than a week before he had been in to check on his work in the lab in our basement. As always he was in a mad rush and stressed. We joked with him not to go off with the carpark key like he had done oh so many times before.
No matter how rushed he was though. He'd always stop to have a little yap.
A few times he had been in with Kaia or the little sparrow as I called her. She was always glued to his right hip and would rub his face lovingly. Such a bright, tiny, beautiful little girl, you could see she was besotted by her daddy.
I'd often joke with Bart that I hoped a new ice bucket challenge on social media didn't kick off again because he had every ice cube in the surrounding area bought up.
He got the name ICE MAN from us for coming in with shopping trolleys full of bags of ice to use to test on his concrete blocks in the lab.
He will be sadly missed by all us Porters and G.O.s in Aungier Street. He leaves behind a great void.
Thinking of Barts loving parents and his gorgeous little girl and sending heartfelt condolences on the passing of a beautiful soul.

Dr Bart Wojciechowski was an outstanding student. He is one of very few individuals in the University who was awarded the President’s Award for Academic Excellence on more than one occasion.
He was an extremely talented chemist who was incredibly conversant in his subject. He was able to engage any audience with his enthusiasm and interest in chemistry, be that in an undergraduate laboratory or at a research conference. He was witty and funny and always wanted to learn more. His death is a terrible shock and an immeasurable loss to our School and our Research community.
We extend our sincere and deepest sympathies to his family, particularly his mother, Ivonne, his young daughter, Kaia and his extended family.

your sudden passing left me shocked and saddened. I am grateful to have met you and it was inspiring to witness your enthusiasm and willpower. What I appreciated most about you was your big heart. No matter what the circumstances, you put a smile on people's faces and you could always be relied on. You will be missed.

We were together at TU Dublin during our PhDs. He was an enthusiastic and fun-loving person. I will miss him a lot. Rest in peace.

I knew Bart when he was a Ph.D. student in Dublin. He was a wonderful person, very happy and kind. I will always remember his enthusiasm in learning about the world and sharing his knowledge with others. I was very sorry to hear about his passing, and will keep him in my memory.

I had the pleasure of studying chemistry alongside Bart and in those years and many after i got to know a truly gifted, unique man who made an impact on those around him. A wonderful scientist and a great person with a good heart. Always interesting conversations, craic, impressions, fitness classes in Kevin St, parties and just hanging out. I'm privileged to have known him. May he rest in peace 🙏. My deepest condolences to Kaia, family and all those who loved Bart ❤️

The world feels quieter now. The kind of silence that presses in from every corner, not just from absence, but from a sense of time lost—an unspoken void where once there was laughter, shared music, and endless conversations about everything and nothing.

For 13 years, you were more than just a friend; you were a brother, a confidant, and a companion in every sense of the word. We spent four years living together, side by side, and I can still hear the echoes of the countless memories we made. The late-night chats, debating over the best movie of the year, dissecting the music that defined our lives, and, of course, the many concert shows we attended in Dublin.


Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed more than words can express, but I know you’re out there somewhere, watching over all of us. Thank you for every moment, for every laugh, for every memory.

We are lucky to have known you and called you a friend. Rest in peace Bart, you are remembered with love.

So shocked and saddened to hear of Bart's passing. He had such joy for science and his work which always shone through when I'd meet him carrying out his research in Kevin St. We'd have many the chats about all things NMR related and otherwise. He was always a pleasure to meet.
