Very sorry to hear about the loss of your father Andrew. I know you spent a lot of time looking after your father in his latter years which is to your credit.
My heartfelt condolences to Andrew ,simon,Nick,& sarah . On the death of you're dear father ,i am sad to hear this news ,i have fond memories of your dad from Dartmouth square and malaga.
One of my fondest memories is us sitting in the garden and having a chat .
I will never forget the wonderful curry you're dad made for us in malga .

An old school friend of Andrew.... I wanted to wish Andrew and the family strength and comfort at this very sad time.
I was very sorry indeed to hear Basil has died. I knew he had been unwell for some years but it’s another matter entirely when the event actually occurs. My sincere condolences, to Maureen, Simon, Nick,Andrew and Sara.
Basil and I were colleagues in UDT in the 1960s and he cemented my relationship with Inishbofin where his sister Margaret and husband Paddy ran the Doonmore Hotel. Although after our retirements we drifted in and out of contact, we met at reunions and resumed our conversation where we last left it.
Basil and his wicked sense of humour will be greatly missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched.

Although it is now 28 years since I left Dartmouth I was a young
old-timer when the Mansfields arrived on the Square. Immediately with their flair and panache the family added to the vibrancy of the community and none more so than Basil. Meeting and chatting with him always added to the colour of my day. A true ( and very hospitable) character. May he rest in peace!

So very sorry to hear of Basil's passing. Basil was such an important influence on me in my adolescence as a friend of Nick and Simon. Then, as a young adult, I worked for Basil in the bookshop in Ranelagh and later, I was lucky enough to meet up with him on many occasions here during his trips to Spain. I'll miss you Basil, you taught me so much! My sympathies to Maureen, Simon, Nick, Sarah and Andrew. R.I.P

Although our paths have not crossed since you left Rochestown we often think of you and especially Basin. When in 1978 I had bought a business and finding my own bank would not advance me the balance needed, Basil said there would be a cheque in reception next morning, no need to ask for him, only go and collect it. There was more in that cheque than I needed! This was the type of banker in those days who looked you straight and made the decision and I have often relayed this to acquaintances. What a gentleman. He knew he would get his money back in record time.
