Benen (Benny) McDonagh

I was so sad to hear of Benny's illness and his passing.  He was so full of life, joy and passion to make a difference.  My deepest sympathy to all Benny's loved ones, Kiri,  his children and grandchildren and all those who love and miss him. My deepest Condolences to all your family. Benny was a pure gentleman when he used to come in to TÚS University, Thurles. The jars of natural honey and apples he gave to the ladies in the canteen was lovely as I had many of chats with him and he made me laugh everytime. Benny will be sadly missed and he will have a special place in heaven. He was one of the best taken to soon.

I met Benny as a candidate for the Green Party and he was so full of life and once he gave me and others seed bombs on the steps of Leinster house. Such viivid memories of Benny as a child when living in Kenton, near London, and with one of my sisters we would babysit. Benny was an absolute whirlwind; never wanted to go to sleep and as cute as could be he ran rings around us. He was funny, incredibly bright, mischievous, and inquisitive. Being with Benny taught me to be patient and see beyond behaviour to the little child within trying to communicate their needs. Im convinced Benny helped me with my later career working with children. Benny, I wish I’d known you more as an adult. You sound like you touched so many people and lived a good and meaningful life. Deepest condolences to all of the family but a little note to say my daughter was deeply touched by Caleb when they presented to the school in regards to fund raising for Ty. She didn’t know that Caleb Dad was unwell but he spoke so eloquently of his Hero , and he has been in our thoughts and prayers since.
