Sincere condolences to Liam and the Dwyer family on the death of Ben. I haven’t seen Ben in a number of years but have fond memories of him in Murphy’s holding forth on horse racing. When the rest of us thought that Rory McIlroy would not win another golf Major, Ben never lost faith in Rory. Many’s the time I’d bump into Liam on Frankfort Avenue and he’d tell me that Ben had asked him to put a few bob on Rory on some tournament or other. Ben’s unstinting faith in Rory was duly rewarded when he won the US Masters last April and achieved the Career Grand Slam. We should have listened to you, Ben.
