Bernadette (Berni) SMITH

On behalf of the Curran family we extend our deepest sympathies to all of Berni’s family and friends. We have many many fond memories of Berni from holidays in The Canaries to our many trips to Marbella, Berni always knew the best places to eat, the buses to get and loved being poolside with her kindle. Berni will be dearly missed by Betty, Mary, Liz and Anne. May she Rest in Peace.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Berni who I was fortunate to work with during her many years in AIB. She had that rare quality of always going out of her way to look after others, whether it was offering support during a busy time, sharing a kind word, or simply checking in to see how someone was doing.

She will be greatly missed by so many across the Bank who had the privilege of knowing her. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

I was so sorry to hear about Berni's death yesterday. Our paths crossed often in AIB. In fact, for a year or so, we worked 'back to back' on adjacent teams. Berni was a great fount of knowledge - which I (and others) availed of many times. During Covid we'd have occasional virtual coffee mornings as we were both working from home. We were in touch right up to my retirement, and I always valued her company & her inputs.
My sympathies go out to her family & friends.

So shocked to hear the sad news of Bernie. We were in UCG together and in the same 4 person group for our project in 2nd year Commerce. Bernie was truly a one off for sure. Unforgettable memories of us sometimes butting heads with our ideas for the project but we'd always reach a consensus and remain friends. Socially you would not be long in Bernie's company without having a hearty laugh together. Thankyou for all the laughs & RIP Bernie. Sincere Sympathies to all Bernie's family and friends.

I was so sad to hear of Berni's passing early today. Berni was a shining light of takent in our financial world and so dedicated. I shared many meeting and coffee rooms, both real and virtual with Berni and it was such a priviledge. She was always there supporting our customers and supporting her colleagues also. I loved her humour. Gone to soon Berni may you rest in peace.
