I worked with Bernie when she came from the UK to work at University Hospital Galway in the early stage of her career.
She was a very popular member of staff and worked in several departments in the Maternity unit.
She had a great sense of humour and an interest in everyone she met, We had many happy times both at work and on the social scene. We had the same birthday which we enjoyed celebrating each year.
We kept in touch over the years when life got busy and it was always clear that while she loved her PHN role, her family was her pride and joy.
We will miss her.
