I remember her well as a pupil in first class - a committed, compassionate, kind and highly professional teacher with a grá for physical education.
She was instrumental in organising swimming lessons for all fourth class students - I’ve many happy memories of those.

I'm very sorry to hear of Bernie's death. I was in college with her and remember her well for her love of fun and life. In second year we performed together in a drama called Oedipus Rex, in which Bernie played the lead.We had many an enjoyable night together into our first few years of teaching.
