I would like to offer my sincere sympathy to the family of Bernadette. I was in a production of the 'Merry Widow' with her in 1971/2 in St. Mary's, in Arklow. She played the lead and was just fantastic. We looked up to her. May she rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to Gill, Rob and family. I first met Bernie on a tour of Loire Valley gardens. As well as a shared interest in plants and gardens, we were both inveterate readers. Bernie became a valued member of the Tuesday Book Club where she contributed to many of our lively debates. Although she was too ill to attend the last meeting, she took the trouble to WhatsApp us a photo of the Wisteria in her garden, a wonderful reminder to us all of the May book club meetings she hosted over several years at Holly Cottage. Bernie, you will be sorely missed.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Bernie. Alan Roddie, Billy Jermyn and myself shared a flat at Avondale, Avoca Avenue in Blackrock and I introduced Bernie to Alan in the mid 1970’s and the rest is history. She was great fun to be with and her children Gillian, Robert and sister Linda will have great memories of her to cherish.
May her God be good to her.

Bernie was a valued member of the volunteer gardening team at RHSI Russborough. When she first came along she was living in an apartment and clearly missing having a garden. We followed the story as she found a new house, and a new garden, in Wexford. So sad that she did not have longer to enjoy it. The Russborough roses, lookong particularly fine just now, are a poignant reminder of her expertise and enthusiasm. May she rest in peace.

I have only had the honour of knowing Bernie for a relatively short period of time but what a beautiful, gentle, warm and friendly lady she was. Her laughter was contagious. She will be remembered fondly.
