As I reminisce about socialising in London in the late '50s—a time when so many of us were trying to find our feet in the world—Berney and her friends stand out as beacons of comfort and normality. Though life's path led us in different directions, I will always cherish those memories. Now, we find ourselves facing life's ultimate destination, our mortalty. Bernie’s name was spoken of with much respect in the McCarthy’ household in Mullingar, and I kindly recall that her attendance as a young woman in Shannon College of Hotel Management helpled to inspire 3 Mc’Carthys to follow in her footsteps. Our mother May was so affectionately proud of her cousins.
Her heavenly escape will provide much mirth to her precious sisters I’m sure.
