I grew up across the street from Bernard-where he and his friend Ken Fildes got me interested in mini’s and racing. Who knew back then that friendship was to lead to a career in racing in the USA. I also drove a big rig for Bernard when he had his shop down on the north wall.
He is certainly responsible for shaping my young thoughts and I am a better man for having known him.
I offer our deepest condolences from my family, Aileen, Elizabeth and Gemma, and from my Wife Marlene and myself. Rest in peace my old friend.

Condolences to Bernards family. I never met you but I lived in 7 Annadale Drive just across the street and was friends with Pauline as we grew up. May Bernard rest in peace.

My thoughts are with Christine and his daughters Tina, Niamh, Aoife and Ciara, in addition to the extended family. Bernard was such a big man in so many ways, even despite his recent illness. His family's love and attention and devotion allowed / supported him in making his wish to come to fruition. May he rest in peace.

We couldn’t have wished for better neighbours and will hold very fond memories of our chats across the wall with Bernard over the years. He was a lovely, kind man and we always thoroughly enjoyed his company. It was wonderful to have been able to spend some time with Bernard over Christmas recently. Memories we will hold on to gladly. I always enjoyed my meetings with him usually comprising of coffee, a scone plus an hour and 15 minutes of chat about cars, holidays, Spain, motorbikes, travel & perhaps 10 minutes or so about actual business!
