So very sorry to learn of the passing of my dear friend Barney. Treasured memories from back in the days of Laverys back bar, the 'hack, Welly park & Holland, Good Times. So grateful for having known the man, he will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Rest In Punk my Friend.
Curly (Paul Dale) and I were chatting in a bar about Barney, our old friend we knew from Primary School. He was great man.
Curly went on to marry Anita, sister of Nalene, they two; worked in Lavery's back bar for years and they knew Barney there for the great wit and gentleman that he was. We all want to pass on our sorrow at his passing and deepest condolences to his family and many friends.
The sharpest and brightest tack in the box. It was a pleasure to be in his company.
Heartfelt condolences to Finn, Trisha, Bart, and Victoria, and all of Barney’s extended family. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
I'm so sorry to hear this, my deepest sympathies to all his family. I have such fond memories of Barney from Lavery's back bar. He was a truly lovely person, so kind, a real gentleman, one of the best. So, so sad that he has gone but such lovely (and funny) memories. I'll raise a glass to you Barney.
So sorry to hear about Barney’s passing. I had many a good night with him at Ben and Anne Marie Duffy’s house in our teenage years, listening to Bob Marley and enjoying the craic. Hopefully they’re all catching up together again..
Rest well Barney
Saddened & shocked to hear of Barney's passing. Deepest sympathy to Finn & all Barney's family. He had a great love of nature & was a font of information, with a wry sense of humour. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
All of my deepest condolences to Barney's family, friends and everyone who knew him. He was a brilliant, unique character and will be sorely missed. I would have known him 40 years this year and was 16 in the college of business studies. Maguire was 4 years older and never let you forget it, haha!. An omnipotent punk who had done and seen everything, forever correcting you and imparting information. He took me under his wing and introduced me to Lavery's back bar. That was the end of academic education and the start of a completely different type. He was a huge part of my life and there is a massive gap in it with him gone. I sure some fungi will grow where he is placed.

Adios Brother

Bill
It was a great shock and very sad to hear of Barney's sudden and untimely passing. Our deep condolences to Finn, Trish and the Maguire family. Barney was a mine of information on many topics, particulary all things nature. I was privileged to accompany Barney on many foraging adventures and to share his knowledge on identifying plants and mushrooms. R. I. P. Barney, his wit and joviality would make your day, he seemed invincible like a mountain or a wise old oak, someone who would be here forever, a distinct permanence but with a lightness of being.
