Our deepest sympathy to Barney's family and friends on his sad passing. May he rest in peace.
So sorry to hearof the passing of my old friend.
Barney was one of the smartest, and bravest people you could meet.
Despite his battles with cancer he remained an inspiration and support to many, and seemed to have an almost endless list of solutions to life's problems.
I am so grateful to have seen Barney three days before he passed, and indeed to have met him when I did decades ago on the Road to Godknowswhere.
My sincere condolences to Rory, Ben, Patrick, the extended Phair family, Aga, Kevin, the Icon gang, and all who knew him.
We were fellow-travellers Barney.
Rest in peace now, and thanks for being there

We were very saddened to hear of the death of Barney.May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the extended Phair families on the sad passing of Bernard whom I fondly remember, growing up as neighbors ( No.6 to him at No.5), schooling together at St. Canices CBS North Circular Road , celebrating our Confirmation in 1952 ( down the back row from me on my Group photo ). I subsequently used to drop into the Phair Stores in Parkgate Street when Bernard’s family moved from Sherrard Street. Co-incidentally it transpires my own neighbor Warren Fay is a highly regarded fellow artist loud in his praise for Bernard as a brilliant mentor. So many years have passed now since our childhood but I’ve always kept memories of growing up on Sherrard Street with the Phairs and our other neighbors close to my heart. May Bernard Rest in Peace.
I knew Barney, Aga, Icon Walk and Factory when I was a T.D. In Dáil Éireann. Barney was a legend, totally committed to the work and art, a thorn in the side of some ‘establishment’ figures, unrelenting, forthright, a doer who got things done and ‘….the begrudgers’! May Barney rest in peace and sincere condolences to those who loved him and will miss him.
Deepest condolences to all the family on the sad passing of Bernard may he rest in peace
So sorry dear old friend that you have passed away. I will miss my weekly visits to you where we discussed numerous topics especially sports, films and politics. I wish to extend my sympathy and condolences especially to Benny, Rory and Patrick and all the Phair family. Also, condolences to your wonderful friend Aga. Rest in peace Barney
Bernard or Barney as he was known in New York was a secondary school teacher in the CBS Kilcock Co Kildare in the years circa 1968 to 1972/3… I have to say he was the best teacher I have ever had .He was skilful at mixing our subject matter with a tinge of humour and wit.He was always full of enthusiasm which most certainly broadened our horizons positively.I feel enriched by our paths having crossed.
Rest in peace Bernard (Barney)and May your God go with you .
