Bernard (Benny) McGUIRK

I was very sorry to learn of Benny's passing. I have great memories of many meetings with him during my years working with Library Services in Dublin and Kildare. He was always courteous and affable, and great company. My sympathy to Anne and famiily. Ar dheis dé go raibh sé.

So sorry to have missed Benny's Funeral a few weeks ago. Such a kind man, I made many visits with Benny and learnt so much from him. Kind, Considerate, Simple and lovely person. I can only say that I am so saddened at the passing of Benny. I first met Anne and Benny many years ago. They were friends of my Uncle Liam RIP and Auntie Gertie RIP. They all sang together at various places. Benny was a very kind and caring man and always had a gentle smile. We both wish our condolences to Anne and her family. May Bennys soul now be at peace in the presence of God.

very sad to hear of Bennys passing a lifelong friend of the Doyle family,
unfortunately, we did not hear of Bennys passing until today too late for us to attend his funeral which we very much wished to do. We retain very fond memories of Benny and Anne, Mary danced at his 21st and he sang at our wedding and many other joyful occasions. Our deepest sympathy to Anne and Family we will be in touch.

Anne. So sorry that Bennie has departed from us and gone to his eternal reward. In latter years we would exchange a few words during lunch at Uncle Tom’s Cabin. However, he is remembered as a stalwart of old Milltown Village during the 40s and early 50s. Personally, I remember serving Mass with him in St Anne’s Convent early 1950s. As family we also had the privelage of his wonderful singing at my mother’s (Molly O’Keeffe) funeral Mass in 1994. He was so gentle and so truly Christian that he will be sadly missed by all who encountered him. May his gentle soul rest in the peace of Christ.

"Kind words, softly spoken". This is my abiding impression of Bernard McGuirk. As the father of my friend when I was much younger he was always Mr McGuirk to me. He epitomised what a loving husband and father should be . A lovely gentleman, who carried himself with great dignity. Soft spoken but constant and true. I am pleased to have known him and your loss is indescribable. I will say a prayer for him and all of you at this difficult time.

Though we who are left behind are sad, we are also so grateful for the wonderful times spent together, the cherished memories of happier days. Benny was such a kind person and a true gentleman with such a beautiful voice.

I'll never forget the last singing session when kindly Martha brought Benny and Anne up to see Dad on his 90th birthday. I know both Mum and Dad really enjoyed it and like old times the songs sung together uplifted us all. Your kindness and generosity of spirit is a beautiful legacy to his memory. Benny's song will always live on in your hearts. May God bless you all. xxx
